I have been designing apps - both Android and iOS - since 2012, and over the years, I've learned a thing or two about creating award-winning ones. I've turned 2-star mobile apps into 5-star apps that ranked number 1 on the Google Play Store.
Here are five articles that will help you improve the user experience of your mobile apps so that they provide beautiful experiences. You too, can improve the user experience of your apps. It won't happen overnight, but enough small changes will lead to improving the UX of your mobile apps.
First up is an article I wrote in 2017, which tells the story of how we turned our 2-star apps into 5-star apps that ranked number 1 on both the App Store and Google Play Store. The moral of this story is always to be willing to learn from your users through user research and usability testing. And start focussing on providing the best user experience possible will lead to better ratings. Better ratings will mean more downloads. And more downloads will help boost revenues. 💰💰

Next is my UX guide for creating awesome apps. I've presented this guide at conferences across the globe and is one of my most popular talks. We all want to build great apps that our users love, but so many apps are just plain awful. Why is that? I'm not quite sure, but I think too many creators think users will put up with sub-par user experience. Users won't! So I created a guide for app creators to help them create awesome apps that your users will love.

Now you know that I've made huge mistakes in the past when creating apps and that I've learned from them. It is time to see how I would redesign a mobile app for a major supermarket chain using a user-centric design process. This article walks through how I can quickly identify problems with an app and how I solve/validate my ideas with users.
Next up is how to design for different states in the user interface. Too many app designers focus only on designing mobile screens that represent a perfect state of an app. The reason they do this is that this is easy to do and require little creative thinking. Designing wonderful experiences when the app is missing information is key to creating incredible user experiences. And that is what this article is about, and it will list all of the different UI states that you need to design for and how you can improve the user experience right across your app.

Last but not least, I want to share how to create app animations using Principle and Sketch. I regularly use animations to enhance the user experience of apps and to bring the wow factor to an app. Anyway, I shared how easy it is to use Sketch & Principle to create app animations and share them with the rest of the team.

And that is it for now but you'll be happy to know that I'm going to be sharing much more information about creating that app that rocks!
